Connecting to mainframe data flow...Please wait.
- All right, Suppressor, what's your status. - Status - connected, confirmed. - Good, tell us about the altars, how do they look now, what's their potential? - Well met, Synthet heroes! These altars are incredible for those power warriors out there. - Go ahead - tell us what you've found out so far... - I'll give you the latest on the first three we've managed to check out - get ready to receive some hard data... MechWorm Generator You should be getting a good look at the MechWorm Generator in your integrated displays. This is truly a statue of dreams for any Synthet apprentice! - Why is that Suppressor? - Why - it generates worms! - So - I can do that! - You're missing some packets, It doesn't just generate worms. It makes two Wurms of a dead Wyrm and one worm in place of a dead Wurm. - I don't get it - isn't that the same? - No, my synthetic friend, check the spelling and you'll see what I mean! - Ah, yes, yes, Suppressor. Please, keep feeding us the 1's and 0's. |

Toxic Wastes
 - So, getting to the next altar, which is hardly an altar at all, but more like a toxic waste dump! - what good would that be for out Synthet fighters at home? - Well it gives off a toxin that weakens everyone inside of it's radius - it can greatly shorten your fight against lower level creatures and other assorted bio scum who more easily succumb to its effects. - That's a great tip Suppressor - what's the final altar have in store for us? |

|

|
Anomalous Gravity
 - Ahh - the Anomalous Gravity altar. It concentrates ether on flying creatures, holding them on the ground. It also weakens them by taking away 1 power and 1 strength! - Man that must be really wicked against Kinet aviaks or Vital bees. - You can bet you fiber optics! - Incredible news Suppressor! Alpha900 and DoomRevelator at Command Center Radio signing off for now - tune back in next time, same place, same frequency! - Elisant, you look fabulous today.- Why thank you! And thanks so much for having me on the show today! - It's our pleasure! Now let's cut to the chase - tell us all about your latest undertaking! - As many of you know, I'm the new spokeswoman for the SOS Foundation - the history is rather simple. The shrines were created during the War of the First Epoch. Their aura spread across the Kinet lands and positively influenced the summoning conditions of various creatures as well as their combat abilities. - Why have the shrines been silent until now? - We feel that they activate only when something disturbs the Ether flows on a global basis and threatens to disrupt the natural balance. - And that means ... - that means our world is on the brink of destruction - or at least a new global war! - Sounds delightful! Tell us more! - Well so far, we have come up with definite descriptions of only three shrines located nearby, but the foundation will research them all soon. I'll start with the Monument of Peace as it's my favourite. |

|

|
Monument of Peace
- The shrine dominates the very center of a vast battlefield covered in rusty pieces of armor and the bones of fallen warriors, it's pretty grim, but kind of romantic. Despite its name, the Monument of Peace doesn't look peaceful. In fact, It's a long Kinet sword chained to the ground with lightning.
- With what?
- Geez, Nadehart, with lightning of course, it's a magic relic. What did you expect, rusty chains?
- That wouldn't be as stylish would it?
- The shrine strives to quell any hostilities, it needs tranquility. That's why every odd turn it casts a Timidity spell, making heroes pay one Ether for every attacking creature of their own. Moreover, it casts a Thirsty Creatures spell every even turn - that's when each friendly creature requires one ether at the beginning of its turn.
- I don't get it, what's so cool about it? Unless you rely on sorcery and enchantments.
- That's just it darling, sorcery rules here.
- Sounds fabulous! What's next? |

|

|
Temple of Frost Wind
- The next one is the Temple of Frost. It was the first magical relic built within the borders of our Kinet lands. It's a true masterpiece of Kinet sculpture.
- Why is that?
- The shrine is a shimmering crystal cage that holds a living blizzard within - a post-epochal rendition of those cute little Christmas baubles that you shake up to get the snow to fly around in.
- Oh darling - that's just incredible!
- Yes, you're right. The blizzard is always trying to break free from the binding spell and causes an Ice Storm every other turn during combat. The Storm rests all creatures and deprives heroes from relying too heavily on creature spells and their attacking force. - Holy Ether! I should revise my spell deck before it's too late.
- Don't get so pessimistic, my dear. You'll understand later that the Aviaks may prove useful sometimes.
- I hope the next relic affects creatures in some other way.
- It does.
|

|

|
Aviak's Sacred Place
- This shrine is an Aviak sculpture, a sacred place for these magnificent creatures. All Aviaks get agitated within it's aura. They receive +2 to strength and gain restless ability which makes them attack immediately after being summoned.
- Sounds useful, I hope our viewers will appreciate this one as well.
- Well, Nadehart, don't tell me you didn't like the others. I wasted five Chaots and one Synthet with their help. You sure need to revise your deck, if it makes you so anxious.
- No, no, Elisant. They're all just grand - I just hate it when my favorite creatures fall out of fashion!
- These new times require versatile tactics and a bit of flair!
- Thank you, Elisant. Is anything else you could tell our viewers?
- Yes, prepare to wage war this season in style!

Chaot Daily correpondent's interview with a local hero
- Hello, Jottir, what would you like to tell our watchers about the ongoing celebrations and all the latest buzz surrounding the ancient shrines? - Well, hm, ahh... - Ok, let's put it another way. What's with the great stone idols you guys appear to be desecrating? - Ahhh, Idols, Those ain't idols, those are just some rock statues. They sure give off a nice glow don't they? We've been havin' a grand 'ol time desecrat... uhh, drinkin ale kegs and roastin' up some mutton over the bonfire. - I see. So, Jottar, what's so special about the ether they seem to emit, does it bring any side effects? - Nah! we don't have no hangovers in the morn' even when we drink a lot! - You mean to say that there is nothing more special about them then the fact that they appear to be a remedy for hangovers? - Ok, you got me. They have a strong effect on our magic abilities and some kinds of spells. - Please, Jottar, tell us more. - All right. About a fortnight ago my friends and I noticed that the statues nearby our village came "alive". They didn't move, mind you. They started to give off some powerful Red Ether - if you know what I mean. The Wolf one draws lots of its ilk. You get Night and Shadow wolves banded into large packs around it sometimes. It was something else. - You said the shrines affect spells, could you give us more details Jottir? - I reckon so. See when you're fightin' either a Night or a Shadow wolf comes by your side, and they're downright bloodthirsty! It seems to happen about every second turn of yours, if you are within reach of the statue's aura, of course. - That's amazing. What else. |

|

|
Another shrine, we call it "Rat Holes", does wonders to rodents. They get all riled up, that is, they always strike first, and the enemy discards one spell if he's bitten. Besides, these here special rats don't hesitate when called, they go right in and attack at once. - How do you think these shrines appeared here? Who built them? - One grizzled 'ol warrior of ours, goes by Beinar, said that these here statues are relics of an ancient war. They was created many thousands of years ago to aid our glorious mages. - That makes sense, I saw those history tablets myself, they write something about balance and defense relics. Go on, what other shrines did you and your fellow warrioirs found? |

|

|
There's also one "shrine", as you call them. Though it looks more as a Kinets tower with a big 'ol lightening bolt inside of it. It empowers all lightning spells, makes them twice as strong! Heh - that shrine is our favorite. Lightning cooks meat much faster than fire. It's a heck of a lot of fun. - Thank you, Jottir. We'll be keeping our watchers up to date on your festivities. Stay tuned 'till next time. - Make sure, I will, Alveig. Come around and swig a few with us. - Now that's one offer I can't refuse. |

Chaot Daily correpondent's interview with a local hero Excerpt from the Supreme Priest's report to the High Council
Wicked new menaces have cast a shadow across our lands - witness the recent belligerence of the neighboring races and the shadow-like warriors that they now use to weaken us and encroach upon our borders. Esteemed councilmen and women - these are truly dark and strange times, but there may be a shaft of light that can break through this descending gloom. After sitting for ages like lifeless statues, the ancient shrines have come back to life. They began to emit powerful auras of energy that affect their surroundings and all who draw near. Each of them has distinct advantages for our warriors and we have begun to study how they can be used to benefit our great people. I humbly submit my latest report to you, may the Ether of Vitality strengthen you! Treants Luck We set out first to examine the great shrine fashioned as a Treant to observe its effects. We summoned different treant creatures which immediately confirmed our theories. All treants that were summoned with the shrine's aural radius received a +1 bonus to their strength as well as to their health. This sacred spot should be of great importance to us in the coming battles. |

|

|
Tick Swarm
Completing a full circuit we came to a shrine in the form of a great Tick. The area was crawling with the creatures which soon made sense as for each tick we summoned one additional tick-warrior appeared. We did however notice a negative affect also as all of our treants were weakened by one point in strength and health. Nevertheless Mages who prefer the company of these fine beasts will find great advantage in numbers within this magnificent shrine's aura. |

Life Protector
A long forgotten shrine was found with the help of local villagers who reported that strange things had been happening there for the past fortnight. The area, which was barren not long ago had become overgrown with plant life in the short space of two suns. We carefully made our way through the wonderful and glorious growths to the shrine itself. It has carved as the likeness of a hero bound in vines. We made many experiments but could not determine the specific powers of the enchanted statue until fortune smiled upon us and a drunken Chaot barbarian wandered into our midst almost unnoticed. I called upon one of our brave heroes to dispatch the red menace which he proceeded to do, albeit the results were confusing to say the least. It appears that whenever any creature is killed within a short distance of the shrine, the creatures of the hero who killed it are rested for a turn by a Glitter Dust spell. Needless to say it made fighting with creatures for both our great warrior and the bewildered Chaot nearly impossible and the Chaot soon turned and ran back towards his own lands. |
